Our mission is to provide, increase, and diffuse knowledge and give much needed assistance in our local communities.
We here at The Vesica, Inc. have thought long and hard and have had countless discussions on which type of Non-Profit cause to champion. Our choice is and continues to be that of helping our homeless people.
The Vesica, Inc. is considered a ‘small’ non-profit. Our thoughts here is that many big corporate non-profits don’t do too well with the homeless housing cause. We have seen too many times that much of the monies that were donated to them were in fact ‘lost’ in the sauce. We ensure that here at The Vesica, Inc. that is something that will never happen due to our strict oversight.
It’s sad, but we have noticed that many times a family’s last stop is at a motel 6 or similar place, where $331 to cover a few days is all they can scrape up. And at that motel they will stay and receive those last few days of physical comfort before they are actually rendered homeless and have to visit a homeless shelter. Here at The Vesica, Inc., it is our mission to assist individuals and families.
Some factors that contribute to homelessness in our area are; mental health – failure to keep or maintain continuity of care with psychotropic medications and/or therapy. Physical health – maintenance medications, continuity of care referrals for other services. Intellectual or developmental disabilities and representative payee negligence. Substance abuse. Failure to qualify based on criminal history or they lose residence while incarcerated. Lack of adequate, affordable housing. It is here where The Vesica, Inc. would like to step in. We would be able to provide housing for these individuals with the purchase of buildings in various strategic areas.
With your help, we can house countless numbers of individuals and families that are made homeless. To those of you just reading this to pass time by, please consider making a contribution. You can be part of an effort to provide housing and help families rebuild their lives and communities.
We always welcome all donations, large or small.
